Hola Amigos,
Thank you for your prayers.
God has sustained me through your prayers and I ask for your continued
faithfulness in lifting me before the Lord. I ask specifically this
month for pray for wisdom, not just for myself, but also for the other
staff who are working here as we try to raise these children in the way
God has for them.
This month we have faced many
of the normal problems that families face such as the flu or difficulty
in school, but because we have so many children and because the children
have come from such difficult backgrounds these problems are enlarged.
The children received their report cards this month and many were on the
honor roll, but others are struggling in school. We have a tutor
who helps them in the afternoons, but I would greatly appreciate your prayers
for them. Many did not start school till they were 10 or 12 years
old and now it is difficult for them to learn. Others have learning
disabilities that hinder them from understanding what is being taught.
Please pray that God will show how to help them and that he will make their
minds receptive to knowledge. This is particularly important for
the teenagers since they are approaching adulthood and we are making plans
for their futures.
Last month I wrote about the
transition plans I was starting for each child 14 years old and older.
The children were very excited about these and enjoyed discussing ideas
for their future. All had specific ideas of what they want to be,
such as painter or missionary. Though we do not want them to limit
their options to early in their life, we are excited that they have goals
and are thinking of their future, and we will do everything we can to help
them meet these goals. We are also encouraging them to consider their
future in their present decisions. Bad decisions now could keep them
from reaching their goals. Many of them lived such a day to day existence
before coming here that they do not know how to think in future terms.
We are trying to change their way of thinking. Please pray that God
will give them the ability to realize they have a future in life with Him.
While we are striving to help
them reach professional goals in their lives; we also want to prepare them
spiritually for the future. We want them to have a deeper understanding
of the Bible, to learn more respect for what it means to be a Christian,
and to develop a vision for how they can serve God. In pursuit of
these goals, we are going to begin studying the “Basic Christian Life”
course with the children during our usual Wednesday night Bible study.
Please pray that the basic questions in this course will wake up their
understanding of the gospel and the will of God.
Under all these issues
with the children are the daily administration duties that I have.
There are reports for the government, preparations for visiting teams and
a hundred other duties that I need to do everyday. Please pray for
energy for me, and patience.
Thank you again for
all of your prayers and support.
In Christ,
Joy Pulsifer
