CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
NEWS
DECEMBER, 2006

Hola Amigos,

This year was my first full year as a full time missionary.  It has been a very humbling learning experience.  I believe I have grown more in my faith in this last year than in perhaps the five previous years put together. Most of the time, I feel that God has thrown me in the deep end, and I don’t know how to swim.

Living here has shown me how much we in America have to be thankful for.  I know that we say that often, but it is difficult to really know it until you have lived it; electricity, for instance.  Having reliable electricity is a blessing we take for granted along with plumbing that works.  I definitely miss functioning toilets.  Then there is the availability of goods.  Here in Jinotega, I can not just walk into a store and buy whatever I want.  I can honestly say, though, that I have not missed that as much as I thought I would.  I have all I physically need, and somehow here the wants do not seem as important in the face of the poverty that surrounds me.

In this time of remembering God’s gift of Jesus, I want to give thanks to God for giving me the opportunity to serve Him and to know Him better.  While this is certainly the hardest job I have ever had, I love it with a passion.  I know that this is where God wants me, and being in His will gives me a peace even when the job is hard.

I also want to thank all of you.  I could not have made it this year without you.  While I know that God has put me here, I also know that he has put you in my life to support me in this work.  Your prayers have helped sustain me.  Thank you so much for standing by me this year.  Words hardly seem enough for the gratitude I feel towards all of you.

I will be home until January 3.  I hope that I will have the opportunity to see you and thank you in person for the support you have given me.  If I don’t, I just want to say God Bless you and keep you this Christmas season and the year to come.

In Christ,

Joy Pulsifer
