CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
NEWS
March, 2007

Hola Amigos,

As I sit by my open window enjoying the warm breeze, the sunny day, and the incredible scenery, I am once again thankful that I am living here.  I think this is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and I feel truly blessed to be here.  One of our new projects is to start our own vegetable garden so that the children can enjoy fresh vegetables and also I will be able to save money on the orphanage food budget.  With the help of many of the volunteers who have come to visit, we have started this project. They have helped us with donations of seeds, hand gardening tools, and their time and effort.  We have planted the seeds which have sprouted and hope to soon transplant them to a vegetable garden outside the orphanage kitchen.  We are preparing the soil now, but this is difficult because the soil has a lot of clay in it and becomes very hard when dry, as our volunteers are discovering. Jinotega is the area of Nicaragua that produces the majority of the fruits and vegetables for the rest of the country.  I would like to follow the example of our neighbors and produce not only enough fruits and vegetables for our use, but also enough to send down to the feeding kitchens in Managua.  Please, pray that God will bless our garden.  I hope in a few months to report an answer to your prayers for this.  Thank you all so much for all your prayers and support.  It means so much to me and I would not be able to make it here without knowing that you were there standing behind me and holding me up.

In Christ,

Joy Pulsifer

Prayer needs:
1. Continued wisdom for how to help the children with their many needs.
2. A house for me.  There is a house in not far from the orphanage for sale for about $10,000 that would need some renovations, but I don’t want to make a decision on it without direction from God.
3. Unity for the staff here that we will be able to work together efficiently to meet the needs of the children.
4. Favor with the government.  There is a new director of MiFamilia (Nicaragua family services) here in Jinotega and we are hoping to be able to establish a good working relationship with her.
